Mike Calhoun - Chief Technology Officer - Device Engineering
Mr. Calhoun has over 20 years experience in the research, development and commercialization of Class I, II & III medical products and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Calhoun has directed Research & Development initiatives at Fortune 500 medical device companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Boston Scientific Corporation and Tyco International.
During his tenure at JnJ, Mr. Calhoun was responsible for management of various cardiac-based product development initiatives, including the coronary stent development program for the Cordis Division.
While at Boston Scientific Corporation, he was responsible for the management of various endoscopic device programs as well as urological and gynecological product development for the MicroVasive Urology Division.
At Tyco, Mr. Calhoun was the Chief Technology Officer and Ops Manager for start up of the home health monitoring division ADT WellHealth.
Mr. Calhoun has also worked at several private bio tech/med device startups. Among them, GMP Companies, where he served as the Vice President of Research and Development.
He served as Vice President of Product Development for the biotech startup Third Stream Bioscience which developed antimicrobial formulations for cutaneous and surface applications.
Recently, Mr. Calhoun served as a consulting engineer for the development of specialty retinal surgical instruments and currently serves as the President of a retinal device start up company.
Mr. Calhoun received his BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi and has several issued and pending patents.
